thirteen back, masters gone

the dig – it’s a little simple for the case but that made more sense for the case. & it's cool to introduce thirteen back. masters should be also credited to get the final hint. taub & his life were actually the same type of persons! it’s nice to keep them in the loop. it’s not odd in this episode without wilson or cuddy passing by. i loved the spud-gun competition. it shows how rock thirteen can be after shooting troy & cowboys and aliens. and how house handled his trouble in a ‘smart’ way.

last temptation – masters is a freak. she started to ‘boot’ her mind into medicine just after wake up. she should be the smartest among house’s diagnostic team members but also the one who stuck the rules most. that’s what house loved and hated. but she cannot stay anymore: 1. thirteen is back at least up to the end of this season; 2. masters is no longer a med student and there’s no internship in house’s team (if that big rule can be broken, she can bypass that internship); 3. she cannot accept the rules house sets. she will be mad and may end like kutner… after huddy, what can cuddy do? just a cameo on masters’ decision? she should know masters’ stuff in surgery and did something on that. btw the chicken competition is so damned funny. how come house’s chicken was not caught after security notified and blocked masters’ way???

pixar 25 years of animation

computer animation obviously is one of the methods to present the idea to audiences. even that can show some details while other methods cannot, other things are also important to make an animation successful.you can find one or two in this exhibition.
there are two things interested. first is the draft of some characters is different to the end product. Like kevin in Up, there were few different looks. And lotso in toy story 3, the original was much more cute which the characteristic was not finalized.
another is some drawings are covered with another layer of paper. some were forming the final part of drawing like for the birds. another seemed to cover the original one as in ratatouille. linguini was back to us but what he had faced in the original?
there is something cover the coming short, hawaiian vacation, which is about barbie & ken from toy story 3. will it be uncovered after launch of cars 2?
it’s worth to buy the related publications which simply costs HK$24 and contains much descriptions shown inside the exhibition. but it’s sad that memo pad gift is out of stocks…
p.s. moral standard of hk people is disappointing. how can we ask other organizations to support exhibitions in future?

pros:

1. it’s a bit strange for bus even much better than before, like doors for bus not realistic; seats layout is odd;
2. 2nd floor of pizza shop is wasted;
3. where can the bicycle be displayed in the shop?
4. there are too many stickers and they are hard to be placed well!

family practice – script was good on foreman!!! masters made me feel a bit like cameron.

you must remember this – too good memory the patient is… but the story is a bit dull. this episode wasted the boost of super bowl ads

two stories – ti’s not so normal style episode. script was good to make abnormal scenes forgotten. old performance of huge laurie was shown in front of him & cuddy and i love that. but there were too few wilson scenes. and content was too dirty especially in front of fifth-grade. does house really grow up? favorite: Who password-protects a computer they keep in a locked desk in a locked office? Someone who works with someone who thinks it's okay to break into other people's homes?

recession proof – what a sad story. masters is not dull on social matters anymore? house should be miserable in order to be smart? that’s the 2nd time house thought that issue. and seems long time the team does not use the white board to study the symptoms

bomeshells – is that a good time to make joke on two & a half man? btw story style cannot be used for another episode. sorry for house to face that event so early (after last episode he failed to show up in gala. cuddy should expect he doesn’t show up this time. he needs something to support him but he may choose the wrong one)

out of the chute – patient is interesting, master is interested in the patient (one is outgoing & vice versa) after being a bookworm for a long time. house is interested in being free from borders. he is doing what he can do after being dumped by cuddy. but medicine is not exciting.

fall from grace – house & cuddy can be professional after breakup? do wilson & cuddy have a chance to be together? will masters be in danger after being interested by a murderer?

finally got some lego starwars products!
7914 – Mandalorian™ Battle Pack: it should be the only lego set dedicated to normal mandalorians. but lego wastes with poor design of squad automatic gun and stupid speeder.
913 – Clone Trooper™ Battle Pack: design of barc speeder is much better. color of bomb squad is a bit odd anyway and by the first time receiving a defect helmet. hey how can trooper see thru helmet???

the king’s speech

even script is not fully accurate to the history events, it’s still splendid. timing is fit and events chosen are dramatic enough.
colin firth is not young or handsome enough as compared to the real king, but he’s got the right experience and talent to act in a perfect way.
what i knew for helena bonham carter is her crazy character in the films directed by his boyfriend, tim bunton. this time she is as good as the true queen mother.
a few scenes of geoffrey rush make me think of his role in pirates of the caribbean. but the film needs an australian with good acting skill to portray the king’s speech therapist.

if you wanna get one of the four collaborations between nasa & lego, space moon buggy is a must to have!!! you just have a look & you will know why.

of course last year #10213 space adventure is far more better than the sets sold this year

house in january

first one makes me laugh even more than little fockers. and it is the debut of cuddy’s mom who expects to appear more in later episodes. she seems ok to house. and taub finally realized how much he did hurt her wife.

second one is back to normal. actions have consequences is the theme. anyway consequences are not bad at all. chase was played due to his attitude to women on wedding night few episodes before. but he may finally have a chance to change his behavior due to departure of cameron back to a respectful one at last. patient finally has gut to tell his son he is the father after pushing his son very hard as an instructor with no connection. and house finally likes cuddy’s step daughter after his “teaching”. this is nearly a well balanced episode except we miss wilson a lot.

little fockers (with spoilers)

this one should be the worst in “meet the parents” series. casts are great while the script is plain & loose. there is nearly no sparks between the actors as there was in “meet the fockers”. the only exceptional is the scenes between de rino & ben stiller. that seems smart for dustin hoffman not to reprise his role at first.

there may be too much showing of jessica alba. it looks like the debut casts are aging too much and use alba to give some juicy shots. but what don’t they match alba & owen wilson to give a happy ending? clip in credit is a lovely dessert after a fast food meal.

these three are cool except the trolley in 7567 is a bit weak. it’s too big in size while carry only two cases.

lego city 3177 small car

this year i had bought many new sets but this is the one i would build as i can put it back into the box without disassembling it.

the design is based on smart fortwo. For course it is impossible for holding two minifigs into the lego car. And maybe the limitation of lego bricks, the real world one looks cooler. btw i don’t like the hairstyle of the minifig.

How come they only provide slick tyres? it’s not a mini countryman wrc…

minifig is not feeling comfort inside. he needs to raise hands, sit straight without back support or otherwise hit the top.

finally is a pix of 3177 and 6633, showing generation of lego for around 30 years nearly. of course the new one is smooth on surface and designed on consideration of aerodynamics.

after 3 more episodes of house in nov

only content of one & half episode was strong enough to make the show to be renewed for the next season.

the first one was quite boring, what i can remember are cuddy found house had lied to her and there were too few scenes with wilson.

the second one was the best one among the three. the drama is often crossing the line. this time was discrimination on black & oz. chase was comin' late but didn't tell why. has cuddy found house paying prostitute to translate dutch online instead of finding a formal translater? she didn't like him to keep in touch with prostitutes even behaves right. wilson & sam was goin' on so well.

the last one was not very brilliant compared to the one before, but i think it's still fine. look of taub's wife has changed a bit, and i like the old one. there should be more on this couple. the one acted as patient did a good job however this episode was not focused on him or his illness. should house check patient's daughter cancer history more to fulfill his curiosity? the story is still dark on marriage & faith. chase was so enjoyable on his one night stand, taub was jealous on his wife but he didn't have ground to support. foreman was so dumb and wilson lost sam again. will wilson & foreman behave same as chase?

hope thirteen be back soon, otherwise she might miss the last chance to play in house

more on vba problems in excel for mac 2011

there are problems related to vba being found after i installed excel for mac 2011 on my machine. not 100% excel coded in excel for windows 2007/2010 with common features (i.e. not include active-x or ribbon change) is accepted in excel for mac.

there’s a bug in instr function which makes excel for mac out of memory. when you use an if function & one of its criteria is based on result of instr function, it fails. the code is like below:

if instr(1, cells(x,y), zzzz, 1) = 0 and cells(a,b) = “ccc” 
  …
end if

another scene is if the cells are filled with date, the date format is affected & overridden by mac os x language setting. vba cannot detect those fields either or make excel out of memory.

and when you make changes in excel for mac, digital cert included in the spreadsheet is lost & you need to mount it back in windows version again before you can make the code live again.

house season 7 up to october

premiere – should it be a 3-hourr season 6 finale instead of putting it in season 7? at least two things could be put in season 6: huddy finally come together which means of many sex scenes, and there’s temporary leave for thirteen to allow olivia wilde to focus on big screen. anyway the team could still solve simple cases even without guidance of house. and we can see the new opening credit (old one) after change of casts (why not execute the option of showing cameron a little bit more). the episode is still ok except of too juicy.

2nd – many people may have the same feeling when your loved one is your boss / co-worker. and the story came to a sad ending which made me feel a bit like how amber died. in total, it was not so juicy as the premiere!

3rd – this one so far was the best one in the season. it came back to the root of detective story which it’s based. the patient who is a detective story writer is actually a tribute to arthur conan doyle & agatha christie. it showed how the mind of writers is and made us remember “everybody lies”. you could also hear famous star wars phrase from wilson,  “i have a bad feeling about this”, & dr cockroach’s  laugh as in monsters vs aliens by hugh laurie aka dr cockroach.

4th – it’s quite dull. huddy tried to do a step further while chase was too focus on finding a partner in personal rather on work

5th – it’s another sad case. rachel was cute. will there be any following on what had happened between her & house?. good job robert sean leonard, wilson was so funny in the first & this episode. And is this so hard to find a new member for house’s team?

dream of you

a year after releasing of the first single, the album is finally here and the release date in hk is earlier than that in australia! the track listing is still the corrs’ style. it is a mixture of forgiven, not forgotten, their first album & vh1 presents: the corrs, live in dublin, their live album. there are twelve songs within which three are instrumental and two feature with other artists.

everybody’s got to learn sometime, the second single and also the cover version of the korgis, is quite odd when the music is passing to chorus thru headphones. but using speakers to play that part the feeling is much better.

it is good for mná na h’éireann to be instrumental as it is a bit controversy. and you can find the contribution from famous jeff beck.

maybe it’s a bit hard for her to sing smalltown boy in live every time as part of lyrics needs her to sing in very high pitch.

the arrangement for cooley's reel is same as that of other traditional songs presented together with her siblings.

my favourites include it’s not dream, so long ago, dream of you.

for die hard the corrs’ fan like me, this one should please us much more than the one sung by her sister andrea when we are still waiting the siblings to get back to work together.

temp fix for ipod detection error after upgrading to itunes 10 in win xp

1. uninstall every apple software per instruction in apple support site.
2. install previous version of itunes (i.e. don’t remove setup file asap or simply use auto update function)
3. install latest version of itunes
4. done!

still in dreams?

• is the whole thing a dream & it keeps looping until the right cobb finally meets the right saito?
• even the core story is about cobb' mind on his wife, don’t know why that’s the weakest part in the film. its made me feel dull when this shows again & again.
• the plan to make fischer mind change is very dangerous, which one of the scenarios was shown by what happened to saito.
• it’s so terrible that you need to & know how to defence dream.
• actually i don’t think saito knows the mission is accomplished as he didn’t witness fischer finished the task the team assigned. so final scenes probably are cobb’s dream. how come his kids are sill so young? obviously the totem would not stop.
• i think it’s a bit tough for nowadays dicaprio to film the cashing scenes in africa. if he was still the one in titanic or romeo + juliet, that’s fine.

thx to steve jobs & roy disney, disney did acquire pixar so that disney dropped her own idea of storyline of toy story 3. toy story 3 should be the winner of this summer movie season.

for those who watched toy story & toy story 2, time-line of toy story 3 fits them which they have the same problem as andy has. woody and the gang are still misunderstanding each other. and their world is so humanized.

every toy dumped was rescued, it is quite environmental friendly. their life is reborn, so cool. i love buzz in spanish mode and ken is very attractive, both how he reacts to barbie, and also his girlish way.

but is that necessary to make the film as 3D? and a bit sad to cut some characters to make the story smooth.

and sid the villain is the garage truck driver?

p.s. is andy's computer a mac? bonnie's one is a must, but the map finder is not by bing, google or yahoo? will it be future apple's map?

the pandorica opens & the big bang

seems david tennant is too successful on being the doctor, matt smith still makes me feel the difference between two incarnations even he has more facial expressions.

karen gillan's amy pond is designed to prevent tenth doctor's problem happening again. the companion has a husband so there's no way to have another rose loving doctor so deep and making doctor regret for a period of time (even that's so tiny for his 903-year journey!).

but there are something not quite reasonable:

1. how can sonic screwdriver open deadlocked pandorica? and pandorica can be opened by little amelia so easily?
2. how can river song keeps enough memory to wake amy's mind on doctor?
3. will the crack appear again after doctor coming back? i.e. is problem really solved?

• accommodation: lotte world jeju is very good. courtyard by marriott seoul times square is new, but a bit small. and the design of toilet sucks. glass door of shower has a gap between ground & lower hinge so water keeps running out… btw we can watch now tv & cctv 1 in courtyard.
• scenes: quite balanced
• time arrangement: as best as they can
• tour guides (egl’s wicky, local agency’s joy & photographer peter): excellent. can accomplish nearly every needs and provide lots of side info

=> target: 25-35 years old couple. they have energy, start to have money to spend, and start to know how to enjoy the trip

will house end after season 7?

season 6 got many new tries, these includes:

• the change of house behavior;
• separate of foreman & thirteen;
• fairwell to cameron due to chase;
• house & wilson completing with cuddy on new home;
• special episode for wilson & cuddy;
• changing of foreman’s brother;'
• lockdown of hospital to discover many secrets between the team;
• affair between wilson & 1st ex-wife, sandy;
• open marriage for taub?;
• relationship between cuddy, house, & lucas;
• using canon 5d to film whole finale;

but the ratings keep falling.

coming season opening follows last year’s style, 2-hour episode instead of one. even omar epps said the script cool and starts filming next week which means more time to fine tune, this year’s is difficult to get as good as last year. we had house in psycho hospital for treatment which was very funny & interesting, this year what we can expect is only the spark between huddy after being together.

and casts are another issue, olivia wilde is busy on movies and takes a long break from the show. jennifer morrison only returns for three or four episodes in this season. the feminine main cast now only remains lisa edelstein, which is very abnormal for the show. this is not show for military, it needs more women to make the show well balanced. and the key man, hugh laurie, keeps yelling to go back to england or end good. this seems the show cannot last long after he can win an emmy. actually not few shows end not long after winning emmy desperately, from friends to recently 24.

lucky for jack not be killed in order to bring story to movie. so cia & fsb is all around for him. hope kim is safe under chloe’s custody. if tony is set to be in the movie, as he knows about jack, kim is in much danger.

the pacific

the miniseries shown in hbo is now over. many people were comparing it with previous one produced by same team, band of brothers (brb). obviously they would be disappointed.

band of brothers focuses on whole of easy company, 506th infantry regiment, 101st airborne division from low to high rank while the pacific aims on three companies of marine corps in pacific theatre with three enlisted corpsmen as the core characters serving in different companies. the front line time is different for two groups. brb only has a timeframe of around an year and at that time germans were falling already after failure of african & russian campaign. but corps fought for nearly three years and their enemy, japs, were becoming stronger and stronger after each battle. so the storyline of the pacific is relatively dull at the beginning and cannot show the big picture of front line. writers already used other methods to make the story hot, from censored screens, to language.

In guadalcanal, japs were just like enemies in electronic games, rushing to death with no means, since they had got the land easily. so what americans could do were just getting enough ammo & rifles to kill them. that’s why john basilone became hero & famous. just thought there would not be good results between corps and girls in melbourne since servicemen didn’t stay forever, but at least one pair can have a happy ending.

cape gloucester was a mess to the corps due to the environment, where they faced more in iwo jima & okinawa, making many with metal problems. so retreatment is a focal point of the episode. in peleliu, they finally faced the well prepared japs while two of main characters finally met each other. you can say that quality of those two episodes can be comparable to that in brb. but in history both cape & peleliu may not be so important for the campaign.

too little front line actions were shown for iwo jima in order to end the line of john basilone, and other two were not fighting there. iwo jima actually is very important for the corps, what people remember the corps action in wwii are mainly due to that battle. they should try to put a bit more on that.

land at okinawa really shows the bad side of japs like terrorists nowadays. using citizens as a weapon, they hurt a lot of troops even making corps friendly fired before japs were eliminated . newbie made the move even harder, they were not smart & tough when compared to those fought before.

why are nowadays veterans discharged easily misbehaving and becoming a threat to others? seems uniforms are no longer as respectful as before. after wwii, servicemen can wear uniforms in the street without any discrimination at all. of course every one thought they are saving the country but not serving for a person only. and life is not so tough that they can have enough time to take recovery from the effect of war. nowadays people just rush and rush, no one can have a rest. soldiers discharged from front line actually need a lot of relieve before back to society.

p.s. richard winters should be worth for medal of honor.

the choice

soap opera is cool for this episode.
starts great from thirteen reaction on all patient said we are straight, to chase talks about marriage, then on how taub handles his marriage.
something strange for the male nurse to take away the thing house doesn't accept from taub.
house is still miserable on cuddy btw but wilson kicks him out even wilson tries to find ways to compensate.
next one we can see someone comes back to follow house status.

the clone wars season 2

anakin becomes even darker. some skills used by vader in episode 4 or 5 were shown.
how will ahsoka end her jedi journey? she is not shown in episode 3.
hondo ohnaka is the most attracted pirate/bounty hunter in the series, even more than cad bane; but possibly cad can break the prison again to get aurra sing/boba. and even bounty hunters have a good side.
captain rex is more humanize than expected, that’s why he is not shown in episode 3?
will there be any more development on obi-wan & duchess satine? it’s a bit bored to watch anakin & padme only
just thought tera sinbue would be shown again in season finale to lead ahsoka to search in scummy areas. where is yoda & obi-wan by the way? when mace & anakin are hurt
wish boba escaping from prison, they don’t simply follow the same way as ziro the hutt
how come zillo the beast didn’t have luck to hurt palpatine a bit (to force him to show some sith power)?

lego toy story garbage truck getaway

the latest garbage truck specially built for coming toy story is out. compared to other garbage truck by lego solely (like my 7991), it seems toy story’s one is more cool at all (as it’s wider to show the size). but one thing it can be shown in the film only, the way to collect garbage will make both truck & environment polluted. the driver cannot go in or out his driver seat without getting some dirt. omg

actually a recap & point for House to run more episodes

• thirteen is a real liar & so liberal on some points
• ex-no 1 of wilson will show up! that will add something more to the relationship between house & wilson
• finally ends for chase & cameron. a bit sad but happy for both
• foreman keeps shining even the path is not easy while taub is fading
• patient relieves house a bit
• will this lockdown change cuddy a bit on the relatonship with lucas? or her wise? she learns a bit of skills from lucas? she does notice a lot of details to solve the mystery and releases everyone.

non-mainstream choices

1. even riot on the empty street is not my best favourite (but i was really attached to misread), kings of convenience has attracted me anyway. so when declaration of dependence is out, it's already in my mind. my recommendations are: boat behind, rule my world.
   
   
2. fireflies really shine. ocean eyes is another album i feel i like in a whole. owl city makes it in well balanced. so there is no need for me to make any recommendation even though everywhere are fireflies.

there were two house episodes not focusing house himself recently. one is wilson, another is 5 to 9.

wilson obviously is talking about house’s best mate, wilson. but it still focuses on medical mysteries on wilson’s patient instead. and robert sean leonard said he doesn’t want wilson being focused again despite wilson’s first life will make an appearance soon.

5 to 9 is about another main character, the one with complicated relationship with house (huddy), cuddy. there are quite minimal drops on medical, but mainly focuses on her life as a step-mum, and as a leader of a small teaching hospital with freak genius house. how can she have time to do yoga & make love with lucas? how can she find out & handle drug stolen from pharmacy (this should be first time to show all staffs of pharmacy? but actually it’s out of control, otherwise house could take vicodin so easily.) with the help of two jerks (house & lucas)? how can she fight back from insurance company and board of directors’ of hospital (this should be the first time the board shown after kicking out billionaire edward vogler)?

i think if they develop a bit more on her with lucas/hosue, there is a spinoff opportunity instead of just on lucas solely.

the men who stare at goats

• my mind of george clooney still sticks into the age of er. time flies a lot.
• the script is quite funny but actually is a bit short. george clooney did a good job. there are too few cameos for kevin spacey especially he is in dark side.
• it’s a tribute to star wars. they called themselves jedi warriors. the power they use has good & dark side. and use ewan mcgregor as one of the actors and how he learns the force. it is funny when george clooney to tell obi-wan what the force is (of course it is also funny after showing how to use the force to make cloud dissolved)! and finally ewan becomes jedi master again!
• the film i think is saying something more, like job & family affair; vietnam war, hippies & drugs, internal politics of military, private contractors; operation iraqi freedom.

maybe it’s a bit more on action. but if it is filmed by conventional way like those tv episodes for stories of agatha christie, it’s not a blockbuster even with jude law or robert downey jr.

besides the novels did say holmes is kinda professional on martial arts. this doesn’t make conflict to the original idea from sir arthur conan doyle. and the film does emphasize the method he investigates. actually many tv series nowadays are using the same style, like house, the mentalist. using both law & downey and starts with holmes already famous is very fit too all other stories using holmes’ methodology. they are not cartoon heros anyway. if people really want to know their background, they would buy the fictions and study themselves.

for some cg screens i have a feeling of another film starring jude law, sky captain & the world of tomorrow. the only drawback is i don’t like the way they handle hair of robert downey jr. it’s a bit too modern.

For the sequel, obviously needs to include death of mary, and of course professor moriarty.

wtcc macao 2009

1. so dirty the team order was at the end of race 1. both seat & bmw did tricks to make the plans secure…
   
2. there is no advantage for bmw anymore. despite rumours heard before, hope they stay in wtcc.
   
3. this year crash was more violent than years before. thompson’s car was in too heavy damage in qualifying so he couldn’t show up in races. what a waste for him & lada. the crash for engslter was unlucky (he had already been unlucky this season with the crash with stupid safety car) & hope him recover soon. sad for larini, couldn’t finish for his ever last race.

p.s. so crappy tvb broadcast was, both presenters & timing for ads suck.

tp-link & macbook

i may know the wireless connection getting crappy between tp-link wireless router & macbook.

there are two factors, one is temperature of macbook. if the heat is not exhausted out, the temperature is directly proportional to the interference of the wireless signal. the connectivity in winter is much better than that of summer.

another is the boot camp. it seems either mac os or windows doesn’t disconnect / release the original connection well enough the next connection in another os sucks. but i still need to use windows as latest office for mac doesn’t support vba.

house so far

finally caught up the latest episode after going back home.

to see house to get away vicodin & hallucinations in psychiatric hospital really finds how his mind changes from resistive to cooperative without affecting his medical gut. and he finally finds a way to help people in a right way. the affair between him and lydia makes me think lydia is more attractive than cuddy and lydia is much fitter for house’s future. really hope lydia show in a later stage to fight for house. cuddy pls work a bit hard. :P

besides pls allow dr nolan to come back to further guide house. wilson is not strong enough to help house to go on as wilson knows the old devil house for too long and he is still sticking with amber.

it’s the right choice to choose foreman as the interim head as he had experience in mercy and he can use house’s angle to think. it’s a bit shock for the leave of taub, but i think his former colleagues find him back to the old field & kick him back. it’s normal for foreteen to separate and actually i like jennifer morrison more than olivia wilde.

what chase did to kill the dictator is reasonable as for his background. he was nearly a priest but he could not stand for his faith. his handling is still a mess now and should be an interesting point for coming few episodes.

inglourious basterds

the layout is a bit like a book, starting with chapter 1, 2, 3. even the film is a bit spaghetti western and a bit violence scenes, the story is quite mainstream. you can say it is right in balance. btw i love the way to handle nazi

the guy acting colonel hans landa is really good. he can show how the colonel really does the job well & treats the job as a job instead of a crazy nazi.

both main actresses are pretty and it's a bit sad the jewish cannot have a happy ending. btw the last scene of her is just like a ghost.

another main actor, brad pitt, is cool in the film with that accent. but when comparing with colonel, i think something is missing.

obviously british is in a bad role in the film, the lieutenant nearly ruins the operations. even though he's good in german movie industry, he doesn't act as a german in other ways. and he wastes two local basterds and nearly makes the key person dead.

really hope hilter was dead in that way, so tom cruise will not die later.

p.s. don't know why german language inside the movie sounds much better than that i saw i youtube.

e-statement by hsbc hk

in order to save more paper, hsbc hk will enforce using e-statement instead of traditional mailing very soon.

i still stand on traditional statement even it will charge me starting from 2011. this is because conversion of statement is quite different from that of other paper. especially when many places from government, public utilities, to financial institutions (even hsbc itself) still only accept traditional statement.

besides they only officially support on windows xp & internet explorer 6. win xp is going to be faded even it is still mainstream. ie 6 is even worse, microsoft already pushes hard to make users use ie 8 instead. and there are users using other systems (mac, linux, or mobile systems) with different browsers (firefox, chrome, safari, opera...). how can they use the service even if everywhere accepts e-statement?

pls stop this stupid move before everything is ok. pls don't flatter those environmental protection enthusiasts.

some new good google services not available in chinese

1. sports' schedules & contacts' bithdays - only contacts' birthdays are available to us, but we do need sports' schedules. of course it's hard to cover both local & overseas sports, hope they can try putting it on stock faster. (why do they announce in gmail blog instead of docs' blog? because of contacts?)

lens of canon cameras

the said e18 error is always a nightmare for many users. for me, this problem makes a 3-year ixus 40 dead & now nearly kicked my 1-year ixus 860is to hell.

the ixus 40 problem finally made the battery closed to explosion (blowed a bit) and the fixing fee quoted by canon service centre can allow me to buy another good camera under other brand. but i still like canon so i get ixus 860us.

the problem of new one is it loves to switch on again even i shut it off and put into the case. & it makes itself out of order. when i took it out & found the lens rotated anti-clockwise for around 30 degrees. luckily method fix #7 mentioned in this blog post saved my day. but the rotation may already hurt some electronics inside, there are dead spots on lcd screen...

finally the team made the official one which users wait for long time. compared to the one done by enthusiasts, one thing is needed to improve. that is to limit the amount of labels to be shown. if you have a page solely with labels, that's fine. now it is one of the items put on sidebar for most users & we don't expect to see a long cloud making screen very long for a tiny blog post. so i stick on enthusiat's one at this moment.

i think they just show the function making friendfeed less usable just after friendfeed is bought by facebook.

for me, friendfeed is the central of showing my sharing items stored in different networks. now this move from google reader is to make information crossly shown in different networks. so you can add a feed from twitter to google reader at the same time you can share things back to twitter. this makes things more mess

of course we cannot compare the brand new thing with the old aa2. it does bring something good, especially ifak which you can be treatable after gunshots, and also much more detailed basic training with new point systems. besides one thing you cannot do in aa2 is to melee the enemy.

however they should bring some aa2’s features back. i don’t like the aim point which is much harder to hit the enemy and hard to see when background is in rich details. m320 is worse than m203 in both way of aiming & number of available rounds (that means my favourite, insurgent camp, cannot be converted). and you don’t know how many bullets left after firing few. it’s very hard to get good result for xm110 test even you aimed the target so well. i miss m24/m82 anyway.

america’s army 3

it’s completely fresh built, not like aa2 was just building on top of aa1. but before closing publicly staffed development studio, army should allow them to fix up the bugs first. there are still tons of bugs after the first update, like abnormal menu behaviour, account setting maintenance failure in game.

one of the things pissing me is it cannot link with aa2 account. i have already pre-registered my account so i don’t create a new one. the damned in-game setting don’t allow me to link back.

but the suck one is user cannot finish the basic combat training which you cannot play the game online! i have finished combat life saving for three times but the it doesn’t allow me to move on. is that due to steam? (seems so, the auth server delayed updating my result) damn it.

this one should be the best in this season so far.

story is so rich this time. it gives every characters shown up, first digging up house’s mind with amber! wilson was made miserable again by putting the bachelor party in his house (coz house kicking out cameron from the party) and walking out without pants after playing with his known stripper. foreteen is cool and seems like unbreakable. chase is poor being nearly killed by jealousy from house. and cuddy saves house and the day again.

but cg for flame by wine is a bit weak.

new flu outbreak

suddenly there is a new flu coming out and we should take more care on the incident going.

1. it’s like the flu in 1918, i.e. young people are much more easier to be infected. so we should have a better living style.

gingko house

luckily i still work at central / sheung wan district in these few months so we can try it before going to quarry bay / tai koo area. we didn’t book a table but we were lucky there is a time gap for us to take our lunch.

the most special thing is the waiters are elderly instead of youngsters used by most newer restaurants elsewhere in hk. services are wonderful and discreet even without service charge. also the set lunch is delicious. pizza is thin and rich in tomato sauce. if the time gap is longer, the lovely set drink will not be wasted. the bill is reasonable and actually i would pay for more. hope i try more before relocation.

another update before AA3 and it shows more ES2 introduced in previous one in existing maps. developers said there will be special tricks for “bridge” based on addition of ES2. i’m looking for them.

however they need to update they deploy client before further update. mine still crashes and i need to use old way to get the latest fix.

the idea behind latest feature in google reader is good but i think it’s duplicate with current function, share with note. and they said, “Currently, you cannot comment on items in a shared items subscription or on a shared tag; comments can only be made on items shared by friends.” that means i needa type twice for same thing i thought. hope they check and do something to fix the situation

old times – ER S15E19 (spoiler included)

it was another anticipated episode before ER ends.

why? as the title said, this one is for long time lovers. four original casts are back, george clooney (should be the last time to see him to play a tv drama), julianna margulies, noah wyle & eric la salle.

main story is john carter needs to have a kidney transplant (lost one when lucy was killed & remaining is being damaged in africa). he was in the hospital his mentor peter works. this is touching when they talk before the surgery and how peter saves john during the operation. they are obviously far over mentor/student relationship.

in seattle where doug & carol reside, sam & neela are there to wait to get the transplant organs from a dying adolescent. doug & carol worked to convince teenager’s grandma to let her grandson go. when doug found sam & neela working in county, they check out who they know in common shows the big change in the show. finally sam & neela got what they want and back to chicago. it’s a bit odd for doug, carol, sam & neela not knowing kidney is for john…

anyway the story quality is back to the old days! and also we don’t expect george clooney for playing not only a cameo!

another year

first is to secure my job, i.e. to work in cautious. the mistakes i made are not acceptable. i need a well balance between efficiency, stability and multi-skills. i’m not bad on efficiency, multi-skills, but really sucks on stability. sometimes i can do some miracle things, but often i give troubles to others. even everything is not perfect, i hope i get better eventually. a tough challenge is ahead to test my weakness due to recent layoff. besides everyday tasks, the new one would be very demanding on both efficiency and stability. can i still do my best after high workload and long working hours? others can, but i’m not sure. should i find another way out after the turmoil of the economy?

and it should be wise not to apply the master course when we are sure whether the job can be secured. but there are things i can consider, driving, learning german, first-aid… let me think about it in coming holidays. besides i need to put a bit hard work to continue my self-learn access thru this book and get back some java skills from robocode.

when everything is not safe, spending is another key topic. except things mentioned below for personal entertainment would use extra money on my low expense life, a pair of leather shoes, some shirts were bought already. another trouble thing should be my cell phone. the battery cover is already loosen. the connection of charging adaptor is not as firm as used to be. but i still don’t firm what kind of phone i want yet.

money saved still puts to stocks. this year should be a good year to absorb more. but i can absorb less than i can as i did some stupid decisions last year. first is not trying to add new member including ipo in my list of stocks in this year. i was suck to get 00005.hk, 00151.hk, 00330.hk, 02318.hk (luckily sold with profit), and 02827.hk in 2008. and i will concentrate on 00410.hk besides 00006.hk under monthly investment plan. but i cannot withdraw the possibility to get more stocks for other members.

summer makes me sportive. nearly every week i kept swimming last year from june to october. but after then only played tennis once with my friend and no major exercise was done until now. i really need to think what to do during winter to keep my body fit.

for personal entertainment, this year should be mostly on lego, empire: total war, the remaining books of poirot series. already bought two when it is firstly available in this year, but there are more attractive sets from lego to be available later this year.  like 10193 - medieval market village, it can be said as one of the master pieces from lego in these recent years. besides there are rumour sets also attractive. really hope lego hk can import them and sell them not only in special event.

despite the disappointment of medieval ii: total war, empire: total war should be promising. it is built by the same team which brought rome: total war to us and they also bring new way to play in the game as what they did in rome: total war, like naval battles. the only drawback is the map will be too large. just better wait it out & commented by game sites before further decision. game time should be much less even i still play america’s army which should be a new version out later this year and civilization iv in long holidays.

finally bought mrs mcginty’s dead at a reasonable price, but i don’t start it yet as i’m reading 44 scotland street right now. hopefully i can finish it within this year and get me back into the world of poirot.

and please give me more time to chase house, 24, doctor who, and torchwood.

honey orange latte

last year end i nearly missed my favourite, toffee nut lattee. so i won’t miss the chance to taste latest special, honey orange latte.

 

they have already a drink with orange flavour, mocha valencia. this time, aside with orange is honey instead of chocolate. the effect i think is just taking out the chocolate taste, honey is just another sweetener only. the brewing temperature is actually too hot for honey to take its effect. luckily it doesn’t take out the smell of orange. and the drink  fits the festival and atmosphere well which can sweet your mind.

windows live essentials

a new version is out. in last version i removed windows live mail as it sucked. the new version, however is much better and i think it can replace outlook express finally.

for others, i have installed messenger, photo gallery, and writer. i don't like the big change in the messenger even though it's still friendly. but it's cool to put share files in skydrive so the files can be available at all time.

i seldom use photo gallery but it provides all basic stuff other software provides. u cannot feel the big charge in writer even they have made some cool plugins.

what a shame is movie maker is for vista only. it’s time to replace windows movie maker in xp.

this was the last new episode before holidays. so it is normal to have holiday themes inside the story.

actually the main line is quite sad at all. one of the few patients cannot be cured even though she didn't suffer much from her symptoms. and also she showed how kids are being affected by drugs, alcohol, and teenage pregnancy nowadays. but the baby which was expected to die is still alive. and cuddy can fulfil her wish with that baby finally. and it seems house enjoys when seeing cuddy happy.

what a good lie house made to cover the cheating between the lovers. it just makes a joke to christians but it really fits the holiday theme.

there are a lot of footages on thirteen in these few episodes, showing the attitude change on herself. and this is a very shock to start a relationship. can she change foreman from same as house  (this is why foreman was fired outside and stays in the team again) to less like one?

new way to make things balance

in the old ways for many touring car races, to balance the difference of cars, they just put weights into the winner's car. but when the car differences are being big and drivers abilities are not the same, adding weights didn't work.

so new stuff is done by fia for wtcc. this time, they use the difference between fastest cars in different models and do compensation to slower ones by reducing weights for whole model. so the human factor can be lowered and the minor car difference due to different design styles should be fixed after few races.

i hope this can fix the problem brought this year, seat got very good result after using diesel. and bmw can win back guia race as they say!

the album i think is awesome. i like all the tracks playing altogether. but maybe they are a bit weak when being played individually. actually they are quite dido-style but this time she played more instruments so the feeling is a bit changed. don't believe in love gives a strong start at all.

wtcc 2008 macao round 2

as the rules, eighth in last round would be first in this round. So at starting position were james thompson, augusto farfus jr and gabriele tarquini.

for few few laps, the most attractive was those three above attacking the others. but things changed at last three laps but nearly all crashes could not be caught by tv cameras! thompson crashed to walls at lap seven so farfus had got the first.

when everyone thought bmw could win a race in macao again, farfus got crashed (seemed with a slow car in front) and the left front wheel loosened kicked the car behind, driven by first runner up of world champion, gabriele tarquini. finally crossing the flag was second runner up of world champion robert huff, world champion yvan muller, and last year champion andy priaulx.

wtcc 2008 macao round 1

the core of the race is focused on seat's yvan muller and gabriele tarquini. either one can get the world champion today. tarquini was not running well in the qualifying so muller has a larger chance.

this year alain menu was on pole again and passed the flag first again. second was andy priaulx. robert huff wanted to pass him but failed. just few crashes were made and they did not affect the race. and muller got third in the end which is enough to make him the world champion!

america's army 2.8.4

two things are introduced, one is every soldier a sensor (es2). there is a training and a map for it. u can learn a bit more how es2 works in training. luckily the map is an ai map, i.e. all online gamers are in attack side and computer is defence side. if defence is also by gamers, es2 should not work. but when whole new design aa3 is available, i don't think es2 will be implemented immediately.

another is the deploy client. setup file size is getting bigger and bigger which makes download servers always overload. previously they also use bt to deliver the file to end users. now a deploy client is made. it also uses p2p technology and can separate delivers part of programs to us. but the performance is far behind from bt (maybe outside states only), even now i cannot complete downloading core files and the client keeps hanging. luckily they face the truth and provide update file from 2.8.3.1 on partners site. there is a lot of work to do on that client before forcing players to use it solely in the coming future.

update (Nov 23): latest deploy client (1.2.4) even sucks. every time i run it, it says memory overflow.

the last one brought the star to the front by one song, bad day. this one shows a more synchronous one which nearly all songs are good. the style is united but it is a bit hard to find a song to have another big bang like bad day (of course the video of bad day helped a lot too). so can he get a good result under the radar?

duchess

even keira knightley fits the role to be the duchess, maybe a rounder girl is better. spencers are good to have babies, but it's a bit hard to make us agree by keira's body shape. i think the movie even better than becoming jane. btw both lovers of duchess & jane were famous when they were becoming important figures in uk politics. and both film ending is similar.

the script can describe the atmosphere at the period of time: women were still weaker than men. especially duke was powerful in the administration. she was too young and lack of information to  be a duchess. the duke treated her as a machine to produce heirs and had affairs outside instead. she's also stupid to allow another woman living together to attract his husband. but who knew her childhood friend would become an earl (so famous as a type of tea - earl grey tea )

i believe we are lucky and there are more poor ones still having the same way nowadays.

house season 5

so far the storyline is still cool. i don't know how come it lost emmys

5-03 seems to be the start of core of season 5. even wilson & carmenon was not shown up, content of other characters are building. idea of the private investigator is cool. house is an investigator actually, but the pi shows house is not strong enough.

the only thing not yet fitting to the preview of this season is showing more chase & carmenon. they are barely seen as same as season four... but the season just starts

hk disneyland

finally visited there three years after grand opening. i think this disneyland quite fits hk situation.

it's small enough to allow us to take a weekend travel which mainly hkers can be able to afford. it's close to downtown and well connected with public transport.

ghost houses for halloween are better than those in ocean park. we went there at daytime and our pupil size cannot be adjusted fast enough. so the road in front is much darker and it's much harder to expect where "ghosts" are waiting. people are not crowded that we don't meet people in front or after.

space mountain and buzz lightyear are also cool. playing space mountain in daytime during halloween is the best at all.

apple keynote

1. steve jobs is still a bit thin and kept coughing.
   
   
2. it's too bad that genius is useless in hk unless music store is ok to work.
   
   
3. another ipod nano. it comes one model every year! this one is pretty awesome. the only bad thing is the lock button on the top. at least i don't need to take my fat nano completely out from the socks to lock the it.
   
   
4. how about the new in-ear headphones? not many like the old one. is the new much better and not behind the one outside?

P.S. it rocked when jack johnson, the most selling artists in music store, performed at the end.

next plane home

one of my favourites, daniel powter, has new single out. compared with previous hit singles, next plane home is a bit plain. bad day is the one to break the ice but it may not be everyone's taste. the style of next plane home should fit for more audiences instead. i really wanna hear other songs in the coming album, under the radar, asap.

so this fall season i should get two more on my desk, one the uk, another from canada.
