is latest update for google reader a fight against their old friends in friendfeed

i think they just show the function making friendfeed less usable just after friendfeed is bought by facebook.

for me, friendfeed is the central of showing my sharing items stored in different networks. now this move from google reader is to make information crossly shown in different networks. so you can add a feed from twitter to google reader at the same time you can share things back to twitter. this makes things more mess

something new and cool but should be fixed

the idea behind latest feature in google reader is good but i think it’s duplicate with current function, share with note. and they said, “Currently, you cannot comment on items in a shared items subscription or on a shared tag; comments can only be made on items shared by friends.” that means i needa type twice for same thing i thought. hope they check and do something to fix the situation

a good thing improved in google reader

one of my beloved things by google has amended a function to make it better. that is not instantly mark all articles as read status when you press shortcut keys (shift+a) to behave "mark all as read". this shortcut keys are easily mistaking used like you wanna share an item (shift+s). at that time you would wanna say fuck when you have not few items (some are a bit aged) not read (it happened twice for me!). now there is a pop-up to ask you really wanna mark all items as read. that's cool.

o... only in firefox. btw if you allow to have quick search in firefox, shortcut keys are in mess!

wish list - double sorting
now it only provides single sorting and search for the articles under same feed or all items marked "star" or "shared". what i want is it can provide auto sorting for those articles are marked "star" or under shared under same feed. sometimes i wanna check those articles under same feed and delete some when they are old-dated. but it is not easy when only allows us to show all items in same feed or all articles marked "star" or "shared".

google reader in chinese

finally one of lovely google apps is in chinese (but it has no choice to choose other languanges yet)! o... it's out of labs!

google gears = dead of desktop rss readers?

i'm using google reader since it showed up. at that moment, all desktop readers loved taking memory for their own and ran so damned slow.


current one is the second beta version and i quite like it. and the recent upgrade is groundbreaking. a minor one is putting reader trends (specialized google trends) on top left column.


while another should be desktop readers killer, the first application to integrate latest product from google, google gears. just ignore the background of gears, it allows people to read 2,000 items offline. 2000 entries, that need you some time to read and normally your desktop reader needs a lot of time to load. and your don't need to worry when your computer is down, you lose all subscribed feeds.
